Winding Road Records
Winding Road Records is a Nottingham (UK) based record label dealing in the deeper and more musical side of house music. The label is run by Schmoov! aka John Buckby, Andre Bonsor, Owen Rowe and Andrew Tytherleigh, a group of Nottingham residents who met back in 1997 whilst playing in a funk band and decided that they wanted to try and combine the live performance aspect of a band with the sounds that house music incorporated. Their debut album was released in October 2001, around the time that they were supporting on Groove Armada's UK tour.
But back to Winding Road... the label is fast approaching its 20th release with a mightly impressive artist roster including Spirit Catcher, Hot Toddy, Office Gossip, Rhythm Plate, Ron Basejam and a host of others. In a relatively short space of time it has become one of those labels known for its quality - before you listen to a new Winding Road record you know it's going to be something special. Topped off with great quirky artwork each release appeals to the collector as well as the gigging DJ.
